OpenITG beta 1 machine revision Posted by vyhd, Sun Jun 07, 2009 9:26 pm

Well, it's not beta 1, more of a beta 1.1. Changelog follows this post.

Installation is pretty simple, but requires basic Slax hacking. You just need to place the Patch.rsa in this pack in /stats/ so ITG2 can verify the patch (also in the pack).

OpenITG AC beta 1-1.zip (contains patch and instructions)

Instructions and FAQ are in there. I know it's all long and not fun to read, but please read it! It'll save you trouble later on, trying to figure out how to use the "Manage Packs" screen, wondering why your noteskin changes to Metal+ when you use Twirl or Roll, or wondering why there are two sets of numbers in Bookkeeping.

This patch has been very thoroughly tested and should be more than stable enough for arcade usage. If you run into any problems, please let me know! As mentioned in the FAQ, support is always available from this site or from me personally.

If you try out this patch and decide you don't like it, keep in mind you can simply re-install ITG2 using one of their patches. If you end up doing that, please please PLEASE tell us why you switched back, so we can improve for future releases. This is a promising project by any means, but we can't move forward if we don't know what's holding us back, y'know?

Anywho, try it out, enjoy, let me know how it goes!

Code:
OpenITG, beta 1.1 (June 7th, 2009)
-------------------------------------------
-Fixed Linux bugs:
USB devices that only reported as "sda" would stay in checking forever
-Fixed cross-platform bugs:
Perspective setting is not properly saved on USB profiles
Custom song loading cancellation causes delayed input events
ScreenArcadeStart times out, even with missing I/O handler
-Miscellaneous changes:
Backported StepMania 4's RageFileManager, for better load handling
Backported Win32 renderer identification for display stats
De-clamped PercentageDisplay (Getting Started displays properly now)
Moved "ScreenAddSongs" to "ScreenUserPacks", heavily updated interface
     Improved Colorized Graph logic
Changed to StepMania 4 method of scaling screenshots
-Code Structure Additions:
UserPackManager: singleton for managing user given addon packs for the machine
-New metrics:
ScreenTestInput - X, Y, On, and Off commands for text ("Inputs", "Devices")
-New menu structures:
LinkedOptionsMenu - set of intertwined menus, example metrics in home folder
-New screen:
"ScreenUserPacks" - formerly ScreenAddSongs, manages USB-transferred game data.

OpenITG beta 1 released! Posted by vyhd, Fri May 15, 2009 1:40 am

After six months of hard work, college, and numerous long-distance travels (shoutouts to LightingXCE/darkchao56/Zetorux/infamouspat/TooManyGames), BoXoRRoXoRs is proud to present OpenITG, beta 1!

Windows installer:
http://www.goofwear.com/OpenITG/windows/index.php?dir=
(jeffrey1790 mirror)

(If you're using Vista and UAC is enabled, you should install this into your Documents instead of Program Files, or you may run into problems)

Linux ZIP package:
http://openitg.gr-p.com/full-linux/OpenITG%20beta%201.zip
(jeffrey1790 mirror)

I can't even do justice to all the work we've put into this thing, so I'm just gonna cover the stuff I remember off the top of my head and hope that covers it:

-Input debounce backported and fully functional
-Stable maximum-speed modifiers ("M-mods") implementation
-Better lights auto-generation system for single charts
-LightsMapper struct, which allows dynamic remapping of I/O device outputs
-TONS more Lua bindings (mostly in Song, Steps, and RadarValues)
-Twirl and Roll modifiers, preliminary implementation
-Improved custom song handling, loading, and deallocating
-All songs - including OGG-patched songs - subject to round length restrictions
-Edit-only songs can play without crashing
-"SongLength" sort on the music wheel, sorts in 5-second increments

There's some other stuff you might like, so check the release notes under "Docs" for the full list.

We're finally standardizing our release data, and so this is a full release only; sorry for the inconvenience that causes. The "default" theme should not be edited, since further theme updates will be done via the patch.zip file. Instead, use the "home" theme to make your modifications.

If you've got any questions, post back on this topic or in the OpenITG forum, or drop me a line on AIM/MSN. Enjoy the release, and happy gr00ving! Smile

OpenITG pre-beta release Posted by vyhd, Wed Nov 26, 2008 8:05 pm

Heya. I'm working rather hard to get all the appropriate packages up quickly and all the sites updated, so here's a quick announcement and a temporary link.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/p2b7d5 - cross-platform full install, SSE2 builds included
(mirror: http://goofwear.com/OpenITG/full/OpenITG%20prebeta.zip )

Enjoy, let me know how it goes, feel free to try out the new features.

The features you'll probably care about for this build:

-M-mod support, intelligently sets x-mods based off the given maximum BPM; matches the highest BPM in the song to it and scales the rest. This is fooled by BPM gimmicks: don't try it on Epileptic Crisis. I'm looking into a better algorithm.

-ScreenAddSongs, which can load songs onto the machine from a USB drive ( /ProfileFolder/AdditionalSongs/{Song Group Folder}/{Song Folder} ).

-Colorized life graph to show FFC/FEC/FGC, themeable in the metrics.ini. The theme for this update has some ITG2-ish colors set for it.

About bumping old topics. Posted by xjen0vax, Mon Nov 03, 2008 10:44 am

Okay, frankly I'm getting a little pissed off about idiots bumping old threads for stupid reasons, and I'm not alone.

IF YOU'RE GOING TO BUMP AN OLD THREAD, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMETHING RELEVANT TO SAY, OR I WILL START GETTING ADMINS TO BAN PEOPLE BECAUSE I'M GETTING SERIOUSLY FUCKING PISSED OFF.

Thank you, that is all.

OpenITG needs mirrors / a site D: Posted by vyhd, Mon Sep 15, 2008 4:45 pm

gr-p.com's domain expired, and vyhd.homelinux.org is down for the next week (or until power is restored at my house), which put into perspective our need for mirrors (and, for that matter, a site that isn't hacked together in HTML). So, right now, OpenITG is completely unavailable from official sources. Sad

Ideally, we need at least 1 or 2 more mirrors - contact me over PM if you might be able to help -, and if anyone is willing to contribute even a basic website layout, it'd be a great help. Thanks a lot.

EDIT: There was a much larger response than I expected here. Thanks a lot to everyone that offered storage space Smile We've got several functioning mirrors now, and that should be more than enough.

HAI2U! ^__^ Posted by GRIM.657, Thu Aug 07, 2008 4:38 pm

So.. there's two new little tab thingies at the top. Well, ones a revival, one is new.

Under Game Info, you can get some.. Game Info!!! Very Happy
Manuals and Patches (more manuals will come, i promise), and a Stepchart viewer which, imho, is quite a bit better than other ones Smile
ITG, DDR, PPRO, IIDX and (soon) Pop'n

The downloads area is back, but rather empty for now, but stuff will be coming, i promise. There won't be the mountains of converted simfiles like before, but there will be nice things for you. Nice things indeed.

So, yeah. There ya go. Some new things, and promises of more new things

Love,
GRIM

edit; oh, and of course, if you catch any bugs, lemme know. Knowing me there's bound to be a couple
